Sponsoring Charities to help vulnerable people

Working in the Equity Release sector, Retirement Bridge aims to raise money for charities who need additional support. At the beginning of 2019 we looked for a charity who are committed to helping older people.

Over 1.4 million older people in the UK suffer from loneliness, half a million of these say they go five to six days without seeing or speaking to anyone.

Reengage, tackle the increasing battle of loneliness in older people.  Reengage are committing to helping older people re-engage with their communities through regular face to face contact, giving them a lifeline of friendship.  They work throughout the UK to set up social gatherings for small groups of people over 75.  Find out more here.

During 2019 we held many office fundraising events and one member of our team ran the Great North Run.

Reengage Response
When we presented reengage with their cheque, we received this reply:

‘Thank you very much for all of your hard work bringing happiness to lonely older people, £1092.92 is brilliant. I went to one of the special Christmas tea parties last weekend and took the photo below of 95-year-old Gwyneira meeting Father Christmas. I thought I would share it with you as it’s so sweet. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you too. You are always so upbeat and positive. I envy your next charity partner!’

Retirement Bridge have selected Caring Hands Charity to be our chosen Charity of 2020.  Based in the East End of Newcastle, it’s their mission to sustain the independence and quality of life of older people and those who are physically challenged.   Find out more about the charity here.

We look forward to working with them to help support their mission. Watch out for our update at the end of the year.
